Aloha, my name is Duckie!

Welcome to the pond! I’m technically Danielle Irwin, but we’re friends, so call me Duckie. I am a homegrown local girl from Makaha – a sanctuary nestled all the way west on the beautiful island of Oahu.

I’m all over the place and proud of it! Some call me a Duck of many trades, but I call it passionate kuleana! There is so much that needs to be done, and I’m doing what I can with the blessings I’ve been given. This website, “The Duck Pond,” as I like to call it, serves as a channel for my advocacies, a platform through which I can share my Aloha Thumbprint and passion for clen energy with the world.

I hope you will be inspired to discover your unique Aloha Thumbprint within these virtual pages. Let’s “Live Aloha” together as we forge connections, ignite change, and inspire a world where clean energy becomes a natural and exciting way of life.

In All Things Aloha

Sustainability is our collective duty. By embracing solar power and taking control of our energy consumption, we hold the power to create profound change – reduce our carbon footprint and safeguard our planet from the impacts of climate change.

Go Local Powur is more than just an initiative—it is built upon a powerful vision of a future powered by solar energy.

Together with my incredible partner Ryno, we are leading the charge towards a cleaner and more sustainable world through Go Local Powur. This journey is deeply personal to me because I believe that we have a kuleana (responsibiity) to take care of our environment and leave behind a better world for future generations.

With Go Local Powur, we are empowering individuals and communities to take control of their energy future. It’s about Going Local and Growing Local together– capturing all of the benefits of clean energy today, for a resilient tomorrow.

Collaboration and dedication are the cornerstones of our work here. As we go beyond traditional education, we transform our classrooms and innovation spaces into portals of limitless opportunities and possibilities.

The Makaha Learning Center, a native 501(c)3 organization founded in Makaha Valley nearly a decade ago, continues to be a cornerstone of hope and opportunity today. Our core mission remains steadfast: to uplift Native Hawaiians and the Waianae Coast community through leadership development, vocational training, and community engagement initiatives.

More than just an educational facility, we aspire to create adaptable community learning spaces designed to guide individuals along clean energy pathways. We firmly believe that this journey fosters a deep sense of self-respect and community pride.

As a recognized leader in community education, the Makaha Learning Center sets a standard of excellence not only in Hawaii but also beyond. We are committed to nurturing positive change and empowering communities for a brighter future.

My mission is to spread a powerful message of Aloha. I invite you to be part of this journey of bringing light and compassion to the world. We all have an Aloha Thumbprint, and when we embrace it, we can create positive change and make a lasting impact in our lives and communities.

I believe that people are good. But trauma exists, and we are bombarded by images that drive fear. This is why the message of Aloha is so crucial. It serves as a powerful reminder for those who have become jaded, encourages those who are already living in Aloha, and for others, it becomes an exciting new path of self-discovery.

My journey has already taken unexpected turns, expanding beyond what I could have imagined. Just six months ago, I had no idea that it would lead me to share the transformative power of Aloha on local, national, and international stages. It is a humbling experience, and I am honored to have the opportunity to spread Aloha’s warmth and wisdom. Every step I take is driven by my unwavering dedication, knowing that all my actions are offerings to God. I am honored to be your Mrs. Hawaii International 2023 and excited to help other Mana Wahine live their Aloha and make a difference through the International Pageant system.

Did you know that Hawaii is consistently ranked as the state with the happiest residents? You may think it’s because of our perfect weather and postcard-worthy scenery, but locals know it is because of Aloha.

It is challenging to understand if you have yet to encounter the Spirit of Aloha. Many think “Aloha” is a simple greeting that means hello or goodbye, but it’s a way of life that impacts you at your core. In its simplest term, it is unconditional love without expectation of return. But like the Greek language has seven different words for love, “Aloha” is expressed through 5 tenets: kindness expressed with tenderness, unity expressed with harmony, to be agreeable expressed with pleasantness, humility expressed with modesty, and patience expressed with perseverance.

Alo– In the presence of
Ha– The Breath of Life

Aloha has been described as an acknowledgment of the presence of God within the other. We cannot physically see God. However, we can experience His Spirit when we witness and experience unconditional love. This is God’s essence. We are all made in HIS image, and when we love others, it gives a glimpse of the character of our creator.

Aloha honors our human connection with mutual regard and respect. Actions are derived from one of two emotions ––– love and fear.

God is love perfected, and when we abide in HIM, it is impossible to fear.

Aloha mitigates the derivatives of fear: jealousy, guilt, depression, shame, anxiety, anger, and hate.

Living in the Spirit of Aloha can influence the trajectory of humankind if it’s shared, experienced, and practiced by those willing to live “above the sides” and from Heaven’s perspective.

To live in the Spirit of Aloha is to huli Aloha, to turn to love and be guided by that love in everything we are and do. We need to be the generation that chooses Aloha. Once the choice is made, the path is clear.
